project background

I’ve long been a fan of punk music and this eventually morphed into an interest in other overlapping genres such as metal and rock. Not only do I enjoy the energy of a lot of these songs, but I also enjoy the poeticism behind many of their lyrics. This isn’t too surprising to me considering punk’s political roots and the fact that it has always been used as a means of expressing strong opinions related to anti-oppression and pro-justice sentiments. I’ve never quite known exactly how to celebrate my love of some of my favorite lyrics until I started getting into designing posters for fun, which is what you can see here.

These aren’t fully developed projects in the sense that there’s no sketches, moodboards, etc. They’re pieces I sat down and completed within 1-3 hours because I was given a burst of inspiration after listening to my favorite songs. You can find the songs that inspired the posters next to them and give them a listen if you like.

The photographs featured in many of these are not mine, they are official images from their respective artists.
